Unlike conventional plastic bags that can persist for hundreds of years in nature, biodegradable bags are designed to break down under natural landfill conditions – in years rather than centuries.
How UNI-PACK biodegradable bags work
UNI-PACK uses BDP (Biodegradable Polymer) additives blended into conventional plastic resin. BDP triggers a biological breakdown process when the bag is exposed to microorganisms in landfill environments – converting plastic into CO₂, water, and organic biomass.
Biodegradable bags are ideal for:
- Garment packaging – single-use bags for shipping and retail.
- Dry food packaging – hygienic requirements without the need for reuse.
- Shopping bags – for supermarket chains and convenience stores looking to reduce their environmental footprint.
Things to keep in mind
- Biodegradable bags need landfill conditions to break down fully – they do not degrade well in water or open air.
- Tensile strength and durability are comparable to standard PE bags, so packaging lines run unchanged.
- UNI-PACK provides BDP certification for each batch on request.
